Our Client, The Rescue Mission of Utica, is seeking a Supervisor of Nursing Services to support their expanding and dynamic organization.

Job Title: Supervisor of Nursing Services in our Addictions Crisis Center (ACC)

Job Summary: This position will coordinate and implement the nursing services. Will work closely with the Director of Clinical Services and Program Director to assure the highest qualify of care for our client services.  Responsible for providing and/or assigning direct clinical care, assessments, evaluations and treatment.  Will make critical decisions in the areas of medical emergencies, interventions and the provision of withdrawal services.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide clinical supervision to all nursing staff.
  • Review all client charts for proper medical documentation, complaints, assessments and interventions.
  • Develop/update clinical protocols and medical policies in consultation with Director of Clinical Services and in accordance with NYS OASAS regulations.
  • Develop staff schedule
  • Follow up with administrative duties and decisions in the absence of the Program Director.
  • Review and approve client intake screening coming into ACC to ensure medically stable for withdrawal services.
  • Act as the HIV coordinator, assist staff and assure confidentiality and quality care of all HIV/AIDS clients.
  • Provide 24 hour, on-call services to ACC staff for medical questions and nursing consultation.
  • Review client charts for medication errors and administer corrective action, if needed.
  • Develop, oversee and deliver Health Education Groups.
  • Assist with interview, orientation and training process of nursing staff.
  • Co-facilitate employee meetings, develop the meeting agenda and communicate relevant information from meetings to employees.
  • Assist to coordinate staff training seminars required by NYS OASAS.
  • Assist the Program Director with the development/updates of policy and procedure manual.
  • Strictly follow all established Infection Control policies.
  • Follow all established emergency procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the Program Director, such as: attendance at administrative meetings, community outreach, public speaking and participation with the ACC Advisory Board.
  • Communicate with all medical, counseling and administrative staff and immediate notification of the Program Director in the event emergency, disaster and need for critical decision making.
  • Meet regularly with Program Director to enhance program, establish standards, create positive morale, and provide the highest quality of care to clients.
  • Keep the Program Director informed of all unusual matters, seeking counsel and advice when necessary.
  • Maintain professional conduct with all employees.
  • Work cooperatively with all ACC and Rescue Mission employees.
  • Work cooperatively with community agencies.
  • Member of the treatment team and expected to reinforce all decisions made by the treatment team and to follow the policies and procedures.
  • Remain available on call for a 24-hour basis in order to fill in if facility is understaffed, to address any scheduling difficulties and to help provide therapeutic interactions with clients.
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring and orientation of nursing employees.
  • Oversee and periodically revise the orientation program/training for new nursing employees.
  • Complete ADP timecards for direct employees.
  • Provide regular feedback to employees under direct supervision and perform annual employee performance reviews.
  • Provide input and assistance to Program Director on employee matters that require the corrective action process.
  • Assist in all aspects of ensuring program documentation for OASAS 820 regulations for Stabilization.
  • Prepare assigned staffing schedule on a monthly basis, ensuring 24-hour coverage.
  • Maintain safety of the building, employees and clients by making rounds, completing work orders etc.
  • Assist Program Director in presenting the ACC program to local human service agencies to enhance the community’s exposure to the ACC program. Assist in educating the community on addictions.
  • Collaborate with community providers to meet the best interests of the client.
  • Assist with preadmission evaluations and make recommendations.
  • Assist to coordinate employee development as required by OASAS.
  • Follow established Emergency Management Procedures/COOP.
  • Inform the Director of all unusual matters, seeking advice and counsel when necessary.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a current NYS RN license.
  • Three (3) years clinical experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years management and supervisory experience
  • Must obtain CPR and Narcan certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to operate agency vehicle, BAC machine and communication equipment.
  • Ability to provide direction/model, delegate, train and supervise others.
  • Expected to work regularly scheduled daytime shift and on-call 24/7
  • Maintains all required credentials.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Clean/valid NYS Driver’s License.

Status/Hours: Full-Time – 40 hours per week – On Call 24/7

Pay Rate: $50,000 – $53,000
