Environmental, Health and Safety Manager

One of the world’s leading specialists in revert management for the aerospace industry, and high-performance alloys and metals is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager to manage the environmental, health and safety systems for the New York facilities. This position will report directly to the local General Manager, and will work closely with the Group EHS Manager in Hartford.


  1. Bachelors’ Degree in an Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental or Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety or closely related degree required.
  2. Minimum 7 years of progressive responsibility in an EHS related career.
  3. Minimum 3 years of training and management experience (plant or department management).
  4. Must be familiar with OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP), OSHA and EPA Process Safety Management (PSM) Requirements and EHS Management Systems.
  5. Prior experience in implementing environmental, safety programs and effective training curriculum.
  6. Proficient in all aspects of safety and industrial hygiene.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including the plant floor, as well as customers and outside professionals.
  8. Demonstrated project management and ability to deliver effective EH&S-related training.
  9. Strong verbal, written, presentation and English language communication skills.
  10. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant federal, state and local occupational environmental, health and safety laws and regulations as they apply to industrial organizations.



  1. Implement systems designed to achieve 0 injuries and improve the overall safety culture.
  2. Lead site compliance with OSHA standards, providing guidance to production and maintenance personnel on occupational health and safety issues.
  3. Ensure sites are fully compliant with all state and federal environmental regulations, and own execution of all compliance related activities.
  4. Implement site-specific programs, policies, and procedures as well as the development of required training programs.
  5. Monitor the safe condition audit process – ensuring that all audits are completed and properly documented.
  6. Track safety actions and safety work orders to ensure timely completion.
  7. Manage the Safety and Environmental metrics and reporting.
  8. Ensure execution of routine audits of safe work management systems.
  9. Drive improvement using behavior based observation systems and culture.
  10. Manage site industrial hygiene monitoring program.
  11. Lead incident investigations to ensure they are properly classified and fully investigated to identify root causes, and drive the implementation of corrective actions.
  12. Assist in the safety evaluation of new projects, equipment and ventures; evaluate and recommend actions to improve safety performance and to reduce risk. Participate in any process safety reviews conducted on site operations.
  13. Lead the emergency response team and all emergency response team activities.
  14. Lead site safety committee activities, as well as union management safety meetings.
  15. Travel will be less than 10% as needed.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.
